Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about CineStill products and services.

What makes CineStill film different from standard color negative film?

CineStill film is created using genuine motion picture cinema film stock. We utilize a proprietary process to remove the protective rem-jet layer, making it compatible with standard C-41 chemistry used at any photo lab while retaining the unique cinematic aesthetic and 'halation' effects.

How should I store my CineStill film for the best results?

To maintain maximum freshness and color accuracy, we recommend storing your film in a cool, dry place. For long-term storage, keeping the film in a refrigerator (under 13°C / 55°F) is ideal. Always allow the film to reach room temperature before opening the canister to prevent condensation.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, we ship our film and chemistry products worldwide. Shipping rates and delivery times vary by destination and are calculated at checkout. Please note that international customers are responsible for any local customs duties or taxes.

What is your return policy for film and chemistry?

Due to the light-sensitive and perishable nature of photographic film and chemicals, we cannot accept returns on these items once they have shipped. For hardware or accessories, we offer a 30-day return policy provided the items are in their original, unopened packaging.

Can I use CineStill film in any 35mm or medium format camera?

Absolutely. Our 800T, 50D, and BwXX stocks are designed to work in any standard 35mm or 120 format camera. Just ensure you set your camera's ISO/ASA to the speed indicated on the box for optimal exposure.

What should I tell my local photo lab when dropping off CineStill film?

You should inform them that the film is 'Safe for C-41 processing.' Since the rem-jet layer has already been removed by our team, it will not contaminate their chemicals or machinery, making it as easy to process as any standard consumer film.
